Mastic filling is a fundamental step in the processing of natural stone: it restores surface flatness and fills cavities that the material may present—whether due to intrinsic characteristics (such as in travertine) or defects linked to the quarry block.

Main types of Mastic Filling Line

Back Mastic Filling

Used when the material is particularly damaged and requires reinforcement.
It is carried out with high-adhesion, high-mechanical strength mastics, allowing the application of reinforcement meshes with different patterns and weights.

Face Mastic Fillin

Aimed at leveling the visible surface, improving both aesthetics and resistance.
Depending on the requirements, different products can be used:

• Polyester resins: the most economical solution, offering good adhesion but limited finishing quality and resistance.
• Epoxy resins: high-performance, providing excellent gloss and resistance, with reduced safety impact thanks to the very low content of organic solvents.
• UV resins: ideal for quick and precise superficial grouting, but limited when the resin cannot be fully exposed to light.

Cementitious Mastic Filling

A traditional technique, mainly used for travertine. Cavities are filled with cement-based mortars on wet slabs. The process requires natural curing times that cannot be accelerated, ensuring a solid and durable result.
